October 4, 2011 - Thought some of your membership might enjoy this:

June 17, 2011 -Lake Chickasha - June 11, 2011
Lake Chickasha in Grady Co Oklahoma was good fishing for channel cat in the evenings after dark on worms & shrimp in about 8 to 14 foot of water off the points...
March 23, 2011 - Fuqua Lake - Fishing on Fuqua lake east of Marlow was slow last weekend with the water temp in the 50's. No such luck for crappie in shallow or deep water or even around structures. Large Mouth bass was slow to good with minnows in necks in 3 & 4 foot of water with a bobber. Artificial bait was slow...

September 9, 2010 - Sonar Question - Anyone experience this? I have a Lowrance LCX 19 sonar, (fish finder). Its 6 years old or so. Been experiencing when I turn it on the unit, (Cristal's) are upside down. All the readings, water temp. depth are upside down. Then after a few Min's. the problem corrects itself and functions fine. I know I can call Lowrance and be put on hold for awhile and ask them if I can get home in time before they close but just thought I'd put this out there for remarks. I'm afraid one day it's not going to correct itself.
June 23, 2010 - Ogalalla
- Family and I (4), fished for about
2 hours in the fast water at inlet of Ogalalla with
crawlers floating up from bottom... no bites,,,the
smell of the lake was so bad we had to leave..
The place we stayed near the dam was a cross between an
entomologist's and a handyman's dream.
We left after 2 of the 4 days scheduled......
I guess I need a dictionary that translates "the lake is up some"
which I heard from more than one source before we left,, with
the actually meaning being the shoreline is flooded back in the
tress and brush.....Dan

- Submitted by Southern Oklahoma Guides - The cold winter killed most of our threadfin shad. As a result, most of the guides have been using shiners. The shiners have been working well with the absence of the threadfins. Most of the fish are being caught in deep water, 50 feet plus. Fish size has been up and down, with lots of smaller fish. The fish are starting to run, so, look for down-riggers and slabs to start producing in the next couple of weeks.

March 16, 2010 - Texoma
- Submitted by Southern Oklahoma Guides - Once again our guides are catching some of the best quality fish of the year long-lining. I would rate the fishing good on some days and excellent on others. The water level is a bit higher this year than normal making it more difficult to run some of our holes. We are catching fish from 10-18 pounds almost every day. We have been using deep diving Storm Thundersticks. The best colors have been chartreuse, fire tiger, somkey joe, blue and white and blue and chrome. Look for this pattern to last into April this year due to the abnormally low water temperatures we are experiencing now.

Fishing is excellent on live shad, sassy shad and slabs. The fish that are feeding the best are a bit on the short side, however today we did catch a limit of fish with a lot of very healthy 15 to 18 inch fish. We are catching fish over twenty inches, but, many are rather thin. The fillet quality is much better on the shorter fish. The birds are putting us on the fish in the afternoons, however, in the mornings we are having to rely on sonar. Baring some sever cold weather, I expect the fishing to remain excellent through December
July 17, 2009 - Texoma
- Submitted by Southern Oklahoma Guides - Before this onslaught of 100 degree plus temperatures, the fishing was fantastic. Fishing is , however, still good and I anticipate improvement with the more moderate weather being forecasted for the next ten days. The stripers are in their typical summer pattern. The fish will generally be found on the lower end of the lake in deep water (50-80 feet), but, sometimes will be found on the "flats" (20-40 feet). Most of the fish are being caught down rigging. The top water bite is good one day and poor the next with many smaller fish. Vertical spooning is working well when the fish are in tight enough schools. Fishing with live bait has been poor as the fish are moving to fast to keep up with them.

May 17, 2009 - Texoma
- Submitted by Southern Oklahoma Guides - The lake elevation
is 629.07. This is not official, but, baring any further rainfall
on the watershed, the lake should be close to cresting. There
is plenty of clear water on the lower end of the lake and fishing
is excellent with several fish in the 15lb. range being pulled
the past few days. The fish are still on the ledges but some
are being caught in deep water also. Live shad is the bait of
preference, but, can be very difficult to catch at times.

The fishing for me has been erratic this past month.
Some days are good and others quite a bit slower. I have been
fishing mainly threadfin shad which has produced the most and
best fish. Most of our stripers have been nice size box fish
with some nice 24" & 25" long fish mixed in. I
have also resorted to trolling to help put some fish in the box
on slow days using either Red Fins or deep diving Thundersticks
along the 25 foot ledges.
The wind has continued to plague us this past month.
While fishing is normally slow this time of year, constant high
winds have forced me to cancel numerous trips for safety reasons.
Last weekend a gentleman from Kansas lost his life on a guided
fishing trip here on a very windy Lake Texoma . Five people ended
up in the lake when the boat either flipped or was swamped with
water due to high winds. Nobody wants to cancel a looked forward
to fishing trip, but sometimes you just have to stay off the
water.
The Game Wardens have been out issuing citations
for safety violations and lack of the proper operating equipment
on the boat, so check out your boat before launching.
The current official lake temperature is 58 with
the lake level holding at about 615 feet

- Submitted by Southern Oklahoma Guides - Fishing is
unusually good for February. Fish are being caught in deep water
on live shad. We had our first longing trip of the season today
and it proved quite productive. We caught and released numerous
fish over twenty inches with one lunker in the 15 lb. plus category.
We caught most of the fish on ledges adjacent to deep water.
The fish were caught on deep diving thundersticks in the smokey
joe and fire tiger colors. Look for the fishing to get even better
with warming water temperatures.

I fished the past 2 days with a friend using 4-5
inch gizzard shad which are extremely easy to catch after daylight
back in the marina in about 15' of water. They are rugged are
holding up well as water temps fall. But they aren't catching
many fish. Been marking a lot in both the river channels and
along ledges but while the bite has been fair at first light,
it really falls after about 10AM or so. Lots of sunny, bright
days and a full moon period nay account for the temporary pause
in great winter fishing on Texoma.
The Lake Texoma water temperature is 48 degrees
and the current lake level is at 615.8 feet which is about 2
feet below the seasonal pool level dictated by the Corps of Engineers.
Water clarity is good throughout most of the lake as it has been
quite a while since we have had any rain.

The striper fishing on Lake Texoma this winter
has been great. Nice fat fish are being caught by everyone, usually
on live bait but often on artificial lures. Due to some boat
engine problems I've cut back on my fishing but I did manage
to catch and release a fat striper that ran close to 15 pounds
on a sassy shad last week. Wayne 's Striper Guide Service has
also had some good fishing this week in the northern part of
Lake Texoma in the Washita River arm up towards the oil wells
and Newberry Creek on those days when ice & freezing weather
wasn't a problem.
