August 28, 2011 - Spent the day in Newton working on our home to be. We are moving to Newton from Cottonwood Falls. It will be great once we are there and have our properties in Cottonwood Falls sold.
It will be nice being closer to our family in the Wichita area and the store. Those drives from Cottonwood Falls are kind of long.
The blue-green algae had been giving lakes fits this year. It has really hurt the businesses depending on those lakes for their livelihoods. I'm not sure but it may have affected ours also.
I've posted a link near the top of this page and on our home page so you can easily check the latest warnings and advisories for the pesky algae. The sate is good about distributing infomation about lakes with the problem, but it's difficult for them to get the same kind of coverage in the media when a lake goes off the list.
If you are curious about a lake, just click the link near the top and you can find out its status.
July 26, 2011 - It may be hot, but people are catching fish. I talked to several in the store today that had been doing really well. Many bodies of water are lower, but it hasn't seemed to hurt the success of the folks I talked with today.
July 19, 2011 - Great article on the Eagle's website about an 80-pound flathead caught and released at El Dorado Reseroir. You can see it by clicking here.
July 2, 2011 - The last five weeks have flown by since I last posted here. Thanks to all of our customers, seems like I've never had the time to remember to post.
We will be closed on Monday, July 4. We will be open regular hours again on Tuesday.
May 22, 2011 - Thanks to everyone that visited us on Friday and Saturday for our 58th Anniversary Sale. We got to see a number of customers and former employees that came by to say hi. Deb came down from Cottonwood Falls and was in the store for a while Saturday. She was excited to see many of her friends.
We also want to thank Daiwa rep Terry Giltner for being in the store for the sale. He got to talk to a number of Daiwa enthusiasts about the great products Daiwa produces.
My dad was the first dealer in Wichita back in the late 60s or early 70s to stock Daiwa products. He would really be impressed with their selection and quality today.
We will continue to add more of their products as time goes along.

April 4, 2011 - Thanks for another great month in March to our in-store and internet customers. We had a record breaking month thanks to you. New merchandise continues to arrive almost daily and we're doing our best to get it out and on display. We've hired another person to help us get merchandise out and to take care of customers.
The new person is Bob McKee. Many of you know him from his years of fishing and helping people at the former Tackle Depot. He's back for the summer after chasing bass in Texas all winter.
We're having to make room for new products, so we've started a new closeout area with savings up to 50%. Check it out next time you're in.
We plan on a celebration of our 58th year in business in the near future. Watch this blog and our Facebook page for more info. Also, if you would like to be notified by email, send me your email address at jim@zeiners.com and we will let you know about it as well as other new merchandise and sales.
March 19, 2011 - Less than a month left for those of you that enjoy fishing for trout stocked around the state each year. The season will end on April 15.
Catfish anglers are getting anxious as the water continues to warm.
While we haven't had enough rain to bring spoonbill up into Kansas for snagging, we are seeing a good number of anglers coming in for supplies as they prepare to head for Oklahoma.
The hot time for walleye is getting near.
Bass tournaments are starting.
In short, cabin fever is starting to be cured and will soon be forgotten as people start getting out again, enjoying what they like to do.
I hope you find time and success this year in whatever type of fish you like to go after.
