Wood Carvings by Gary Cooper of Wichita, Kansas

Hand carved wooden bluegill mounted and framed
This handcarved 11-inch wooden mounted bluebill is carved by folk art carver Gary Cooper. The carving and attention to detail is in the lodge art style with a rusted metal hanging chain. The 11" fish is also framed. The bluegill has metal fins like the ones of years ago did. Sometimes it got a little wild in those lodges and the carvers didn't want the fins to break in case there was a scuffle a little too close to his work of art.

About the Artist

Gary Cooper is a nationally know woodcaver that enjoys carving reproductions of antique working duck and fish decoys like the old masters. He has won numerous honors and awards.

His stringers of fish and reproductions of antique duck and fish decoys are in private and public collections across all 50 states and in many foreign countries. Gary was one of only four artists selected to represent Kansas at the receint New York International Gift Fair. The Museum of American Folk Art, New York, NY now carries his art.

Cooper's attention to detail make these some of the finest folkart in the country. Don't get these confused with cheap imataions made overseas. These are handcrafted by the artist one at a time with loving care.
