      BASS Announces Milford as Site
      of 2008 Federation Nation Championship 
      November 13, 2007 - Since 1973, BASS has
      offered opportunities to amateur anglers to qualify for the Bassmaster
      Classic. BASS announced today the tradition will continue with
      the 2008 Federation Nation Championship, which will be held at
      Milford Lake out of Junction City, Kan. 
      The three-day event, which will feature television
      coverage on ESPN2, will be held Nov. 6-8. Festivities will include
      the Bassmaster CastingKids Semifinals. 
      "Milford Lake will be an exciting new venue
      for the BASS Federation Nation Championship," said Don Corkran,
      director of the Federation Nation. "It's such a great central
      location for our competitors across the country  they will
      appreciate that. The community already has been wonderful to
      work with, and I'm confident that this is going to be a great
      event." 
      The Federation Nation champion receives a Triton
      boat package valued at $50,000 as well as a berth in the Bassmaster
      Elite Series, the most visible level of tournament fishing. The
      tournament is split into six divisions, based on geographic criteria,
      with the top angler in each division earning a spot in the Bassmaster
      Classic. 
      At the Federation Nation Championship staged this
      past weekend on Florida's Lake Tohopekaliga, Jeff Freeman of
      Max Meadows, Va., bested 54 other amateur anglers. Others who
      earned Classic berths include Mike Baskett of Salem, Ore., in
      the Western Division; Jamie Laiche of Gonzales, La. (Central);
      Chris Loftus of Bloomfield, N.Y. (Eastern); South Africa's Richard
      Watson (Southern); and Brent Haimes of Mazeppa, Minn. (Northern). 
      Milford Lake is known as the "Fishing Capitol
      of Kansas," where anglers can expect to find largemouth,
      smallmouth and spotted bass. Daily weigh-ins at the tournament,
      hosted by Junction City/Geary County, will take place in the
      historic downtown district of Junction City. 
      The Kansas state record for smallmouth bass, a
      6.68-pound brute, was set on Milford Lake in August 2004.
