Lawrence, Kansas anglers Steve
and Dominic Ortiz finish fourth in Joe Bass on Stockton Lake
with 18.97, weight tied third place
March 23, 2008 - 2008 JOE BASS Pomme/Stockton
champions, Brandon Rummel, of Everton, MO and Jesse Tate, of
Willard, MO, were boat #1 at take off and remained in the #1
spot after the scales closed. The team had a huge bass of 8.84lbs
to kick the 5 fish limit up over 25 lbs with a total weight of
25.45 lbs to take home $1024 1st place money and $204 for 1st
Big Bass. The team was using stick baits on the main lake. They
were happy to be catching fish all day long. They concentrated
on channel swings and points to find their fish. Congrats to
both of them on a GREAT sack of fish.
Jay Carter, Springfield, MO, and Tony French, Fort
Scott, KS, had a great day as well using stick baits, crankbaits
and jigs to bring a 23.86 lbs sack to the scale. They had a pair
of bass that looked very similar (see pic). The big one for them
was good enough for 2nd Big Bass with a weight of 7.03 lbs. They
fished main lake and up in the river which was a common theme
amongst all the teams that came across the scales Sunday.
Sonny Moore, Forsyth, MO, who fished by himself.
Sonny had a five fish limit by throwing stick baits all day in
the wind. The sack weighed 18.97 lbs which tied the fourth place
team, but Sonny had a 5.69 lbs kicker to take the third spot.
Steve and Dominic Ortiz of Lawrence finished
4th with 18.97 and won $497.
