Chapter Federation wins national award for Fishin' for Wishes
March 10, 2005 - What do you do
when you're stuck at home recovering from knee surgery? Kent
Craft decided to use the time for something close to his heart.
While home recovering from knee
surgery, Craft wrote a summary of the federation's activities,
compiled a pictorial notebook and submitted it to the National
BASS Federation for consideration in their National Outstanding
Achievement Awards contest. As a result, the Kansas Federation
has won the National Award for Community Service/Public Relations.
Craft will accept the award on behalf of the Kansas Federation
during the Annual National BASS Federation Award Banquet, April
28 in Orlando.
Kansas B.A.S.S. Chapter Federation
raised and donated $13,816.88 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of
Kansas through the Fishin' for Wishes activities.
Craft said, "When I wrote/compiled the notebook, I combined
the raffle boat, the club's projects, the Fishin' for Wishes
benefit fishing event, sponsors donations and the wishing well
all into one project/program called Fishin' for Wishes. The judges
must have liked what we did as our program turned out to be the
best in the nation."
